Work involving human embryonic stem cells (ESCs) is subject to strict rules. Here you will find information for researchers, ethics committees and medical personnel about the relevant applications and licences.  

Scientists intending to conduct research involving human embryonic stem cells or to derive such cells can find the information they need to submit an application here.
Ethics committees can find out about their responsibilities when it comes to reviewing research projects involving human embryonic stem cells.

Projects involving existing human embryonic stem cell lines

• that are available in Switzerland (cell lines do not need to be imported)
• that are imported from abroad

Export of cells derived in Switzerland  

Information and forms on applications and authorizations for projects for the derivation of human embryonic stem cell lines or for project aimed at improving derivation methods are available upon request.
